Sleeping Cutie

We made this in 2003, and I just recently dug it out. We were playing around, and it kinda turned into a video shoot. I love it because it took no coaxing to get the kids to participate. These days, they're much more self-aware.

So worth the price of admission! I laughed, I cried. And I loved the horseback riding scenes. So realistic! Were they inspired by Monty Python and the Holy Grail?

I certainly hope you didn't subject those children to more than three hours on set at a time, and that they performed all their schoolwork in a judicious manner. Because seriously: that FX work had to take days.

I notice that your home movies have evolved over the past few yearsl; you've gone from this very staged, very eloborate retelling of a classic to your more cinema verite Questions for the Police piece. Traditional setups are giving way to edgier, more groundbreaking filmmaking. Just thought I'd note the trend.

Adam, thanks for your concern for the kid's welfare, but they said they wanted to be on set 14 hours that evening/night/morning.

Thanks all, for your comments on the sfx. It took a long while to find just the right "bodyfall" sound for the Prince. I think it's perfect, and I laugh every time it happens.

I'm particularly proud of the dragon sfx though. Some of my best work during 2003.

Turtle, luckily I didn't have to use coconut shells for the horse sfx, as that would've slowed down post-production significantly.
